Storyline Revenge: A Love Story

A serial murderer has brutally killed several policemen and their pregnant wives. After a quick investigation, the murderer is revealed to be Kit, whom the case's detective-in-charge knows from a previous case. Once upon a time, Kit was an innocent boy in a rural village who also has a crush on naïve high school student Wing. After the death of Wing's grandmother, Kit rescues Wing from a foster care facility, and the two quickly fall in love. However, their romance ends prematurely when a local policeman arrests them. The events that follow lay the seeds for Kit's terrifying path to vengeance.

Overall, Revenge: A Love Story is a fantastic revenge thriller - the pure brutality and meaning of the film is very effective. It's a film that will stay with you long after its end. It breaks the "Hollywood" rules and follows it's own path much like the iconic South Korean revenge thrillers.

Revenge: A Love Story beings with Chan Kit visiting a young pregnant woman, and chokes her husband to death. It turns out Kit also killed the young woman and removed the fetus, dumping at a river nearby. Through a series of flashbacks, it is revealed that Kit fell in love with a mentally retarded girl, Cheung Wing.

Revenge: A Love Story is the best Wong Ching-Po film since Fu Bo, but that's only because it's being compared to Jiang Hu and Ah Sou. This is a violent, bombastic and pretentious revenge thriller that tries too hard for meaning and ends up appearing hypocritical in the process. In other words, it's a B-movie uncomfortably dressed in A-movie clothes.
